There are many different kinds of cancer that can affect different parts of the body. Cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases where some of the body’s cells begin to divide without stopping and spread into surrounding tissues.

How Does Cancer Happen
Cancer can start just about anywhere in the body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Usually, our cells grow and divide to form new cells as the body needs them. When cells get old or suffer damage, they die, and new cells take their place.
When cancer develops, however, this process breaks down and goes differently. As cells become more and more abnormal, old and/or damaged cells survive when they should die, and new cells form when they are not needed. These extra cells can divide without stopping and may form what we call tumors.
Tumors
Most cancers form solid tumors, which are masses of tissue. Cancers in the blood, such as leukemia, generally won’t form a solid tumor.
Cancerous tumors are called malignant, which means they can spread into, or invade, nearby tissues. In addition, as these tumors grow, cancer cells can break off and travel to distant places in the body through the blood or the lymph system and form new tumors far from the original tumor.
Malignant or Benign
Unlike malignant tumors, benign tumors do not spread into, or invade, nearby tissues. Benign tumors can sometimes be pretty large though. When removed, they usually don’t grow back, whereas malignant tumors sometimes do. Unlike most benign tumors elsewhere in the body, benign brain tumors can be life threatening.
Symptoms of Cancer
Cancers can cause many symptoms, but these symptoms are most often caused by illness, injury, or benign tumors. If you have symptoms that don’t get better after a few weeks, see your doctor so that problems can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. Often, cancer does not cause pain, so do not wait to feel pain before seeing a doctor.
Medical Marijuana and Cancer
This disease cannot be cured but medical marijuana eases symptoms to give patients a better quality of life. Marijuana helps slow down the division of cells, helps improve the quality of sleep and helps stimulate the patients appetite,
Marijuana strains that help with associated insomnia and loss of appetite include:
- OG Kush: This popular indica-dominant strain relieves anxiety, soothes the body and promotes a good night’s sleep to ward of fatigue the following day.
- Pennywise: This hybrid strain is 50/50, combining the best qualities of both. This strain is also very high in CBD. It offers patients the mental relief they need.
- Sour Lemon: This sativa strain helps with stress relief and the depression that comes along with chronic illness. It also promotes a healthy appetite and gives an ample amount of energy to fight fatigue.
